Azad, Mehbooba, Mir greet public on Janmashtami

Former Chief Minister, Ghulam Nabi Azad Azad, PDP Chief Mehbooba Mufti and J&K Congress Chief Ghulam Ahmed Mir on Saturday greeted people of the state on the auspicious occasion of Janmashtami.

Azad said that spirit of holy festivals is to strengthen the bonds of amity and foster brotherhood and harmony in the society.

On this auspicious occasion, Azad also prayed for well-being of the people of the state.

“While extending my warm greetings and good wishes to the people of our state on this auspicious occasion, I hope it will usher Jammu and Kashmir into an era of peace and prosperity,” Mehbooba Mufti said.

“May this auspicious day bring peace, amity, harmony and prosperity in our lives,” she said.

Mehbooba said the festival of Janmashtami is celebrated across the country with traditional fervour and enthusiasm and reminds us of the life and teachings of Lord Krishna.

Jammu and Kashmir Congress Chief Gulam Ahmed Mir also extended greetings to the people and hoped that the festivities bring peace, prosperity and welfare to the people and the state.

Mir hoped that the bonds of communal amity are strengthened further and these traditions are passed on to our future generations.

Advisor to Chief Minister, Prof. Amitabh Mattoo also wished people of the state on the auspicious occasion of Janmashtami.

In his message, Mattoo said J&K has the rich tradition of communal harmony, brotherhood and tolerance and people have maintained this tradition despite severe provocations.
