Palhallan observes shutdown after discovery of three bullet-ridden bodies

Life has come to a halt in Palhallan and Pattan towns after after three bullet-ridden bodies were found in an orchard in Shutz village on Monday.

Witnesses said that shopkeepers downed their shutters while schools and colleges were closed after news of the deaths spread in the area.

Hours after three bodies were found by locals in the orchard, police is yet to ascertain the identity of the deceased youth.

“It has been hours since the bodies were recovered. And their pictures have become viral on the social media. Still, police is unable to confirm their identity,” said a local.

“This delay (in establishing the identity) has added to the tension in the area,”

Groups of youths took out a demonstration in Pattan town to protest the delay in establishing the identity of the deceased.

“I am sure police is hiding something,” alleged a protester.

Reports of a complete shutdown have also been received from Palhallan town.

Pattan and Palhallan are the nearest towns to Shutz village where bodies were found.

Fearing violence, police have taken the bodies to a hospital in Tangmarg for autopsy.

A police spokesman said that they are investigating the incident and that they don’t have missing reports lodged in police stations of the district that match with the deceased.
