11 Persons test positive for dengue in J&K

The cases of dengue in the state have reached 13. Two of the patients tested positive live in Delhi.

11 persons test positive for dengue in J&KThe Health Department in collaboration with the Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) has geared up to take preventive measures for dengue.

Laboratories in Jammu have detected 11 dengue cases in the last two weeks. Of them, six were living outside the state and five were infected in Jammu.

“The toll has reached 13 so far. Of them, 11 were diagnosed in Jammu. Nine patients have been discharged and two others are admitted in isolated wards of Shri Maharaja Gulab Singh Hospital and Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu, but no one is in a critical condition,” said BS Pathania, Director, Health Services, Jammu.

“We are taking preventive measures and have fumigated about 50 houses near the house of each patient. We appeal to the people of Jammu to take preventive measures and do not panic,” Pathania added.

He said isolated wards for dengue fever patients had been arranged in all hospitals and all district hospitals had also been directed to keep an isolated area for such patients.

The Health Department in collaboration with the Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) has started fogging in the city. “The Jammu Municipal Corporation has started a special sanitation drive along with fogging in various parts of the city,” said Dr Saleem Khan, Health Officer, JMC.

“Gandhi Nagar, Channi, Gangyal and some other areas have been fumigated and the old city will be fumigated within days,” he added.

The department claims that it will finish fogging in the entire city by Tuesday.
