State badminton championship begins at Indoor Stadium

District Youth Services and Sports Srinagar under the patronage of DG Youth Services & Sports Jehangir Mir kicked off the state level inter-district badminton championship 2015 for boys and girls in the age groups U14, U17 & U19 at Indoor stadium, Srinagar.

On the occasion, Assistant Director Activities Kashmir Division Manjeet Singh and other officials of the department were present.
Sports Officer Srinagar congratulated the participants for the huge participation and showing their love and dedication towards sports.
He directed the organizers to work with dedication for the smooth conduct of the championship.
The championship which began today will feature both girls and boys and will culminate on August 20 for girls and August 21 to 23 august 2015 for boys.
The participating teams have been lodged at Youth Hostel Srinagar. Special technical staff has been called from different districts of the state for the smooth conduct of the championship.
New SGFI rules are being implemented in the championship.
At indoor stadium, three courts were drawn for three age groups 14-17-19.
In U14 girls singles category, two  matches were played between Udhampur and Pulwama    in which Udhampur  won the singles  set by 21-12,21-24 and in doubles set  Udhampur also won by 18-06, 18-10. Similarly, in U17 category matches between Budgam and Kathwa were played in which singles were won by Kathwa by 15-04, 15-05 and in doubles Budgam won by 15-12, 15-17. In U19 category, two matches were played between Baramulla and Ganderbal in which former won both singles and double set by 21-09, 21-06 and d21-08, 21-09.
