Rahul slams Modi govt for not helping J&K

‘PDP-BJP in an opportunistic coalition’

Castigating the Modi government for not helping Jammu and Kashmir, Congress Vice-president Rahul Gandhi Thursday said it failed to benefit the State by pushing progressive schemes initiated by United Progressive Alliance (UPA) to back burner.
Rahul slams Modi govt for not helping J&K“NDA government was a government of three or four businessmen and nobody would benefit from them. Earlier we thought it was suit boot ki Sarkaar but today we see it is a government of three or four businessmen,” Rahul said while speaking to saffron growers at Dusso village, here today.
He said Modi government was not serious in providing help to J&K.
Praising UPA government for initiating various developmental projects in the state, Rahul said, “We had set the State on track, acted hard against militancy and offered help to the State. The UPA government whole heartedly supported the empowerment of the people in the state”.
Invoking his ancestral relationship to Kashmir, he said he felt glad to visit Kashmir but was equally saddened by the prevailing situation in State.
“The PDP-BJP coalition government in the State was opportunistic coalition. The coalition government is not working to help the people of the state and has instead deteriorated the situation,” the congress leader said.
He highlighted the saffron mission started by the UPA government for the farmers of Pampore and adjoining areas, who are involved in saffron production.
Rahul said the farmers benefited after being provided sprinklers for irrigation in the area.
“Congress was working to help the people, farmers and youth of Jammu and Kashmir.  You work in the fields, you work for the nation and for that we thank you,” he said.
Around three hundred farmers from different areas of Pampore listened to him.
