Nobody can touch Article 370: PDP

The ruling People’s Democratic Party Tuesday said that nobody can touch the Article 370 and that the Accession of the State with the Union of India was under the ambit of the special law which grants special status to the Jammu and Kashmir.

Nobody can touch Article 370 - PDP“Everybody knows our stand. Nobody can touch Article 370. The Accession was under the ambit of the law,” senior PDP minister Altaf Bukhari said while talking to KNS and one of the National TV channel.

He said that Prime Minister and even the Parliament accept that the Accession was under the ambit of Article 370.

The statement came after Deputy Chief Minister Dr Nirmal Singh had said that entering into alliance with PDP does not mean that BJP has given up its stand on Article 370.

Bukhari while admitting that there were ideological differences between the coalition partners (PDP and BJP) said, “As far as the common minimum programme is concerned there are no differences and both the parties are working together for the developments of Jammu and Kashmir.”

“We have common minimum program and whatever will be done will be done under the agreement and the constitution. I can tell you that there are no differences between the coalition partners,” he asserted.

Commenting on the statement of former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah in which he had stated that “for all practical reasons, Dr Nirmal Singh, and Mufti Sayeed are the Chief Ministers of Jammu and Kashmir respectively”, Bukhari said, “Omar is perhaps recalling his tenure when his Deputy Chief Minister was ruling like a Chief Minster. Everybody knows how wrong the former Deputy Chief Minister did and how Omar Abdullah was helpless to take action against him.”

He claimed that NC regime did nothing for the miseries of the common masses during their tenure. “The six-year tenure of Omar Abdullah-led government was one of the worst, incompetent and corrupt regimes the state has witnessed so far,” he said.

The PDP minister said various scams were exposed during the previous government “but it was unfortunate that action was not taken against anybody.”

“PDP-BJP government is committed to give good and transparent government to the people of Jammu and Kashmir,” he added. (KNS)
